Top 5 Sales for Non-toxic Living this Earth Month - Detox Your Home & Life on a Budget

Detoxing your home, your life, your body (and your liver) is one of the best things you can do to support your hormones, the health of your loved ones, and even slow down aging (yup, I said it - and you know I don't speak blindly, more on that research later)! Cultivating nontoxic living and low-tox habits doesn't have to break the bank. It can be done a budget, it can be done slowly (or all at once) and the best way to make that happen is to plan it out and take advantage of timing!

...and when we say timing, we mean SALES! America loves a good sale, so don't fret if right now isn't the time for some of these purchases - they'll definitely go on sale again!

NontoxicLivingDetoxYourHomeEarthMonthSalesBLOG

Here are our top 5 deals for detoxing your home without breaking the bank this Earth Day! 👊

Ps. if you're interested in our top 10 non-toxic product priorities - check out this blog article: 'Detox Your Home to Balance Your Hormones - our Top 10' for more ideas.

1. Leaf Shave - Razors (with a pivoting head & all)

Earth Day - 20% off (ends April 23rd)

I own this razor, I love this razor, I've gifted this razor...multiple times (comeon, you're not surprised my friends are nerdy too, are you?!). It's honestly SO well made, the pivoting head blows my mind, it's amazing for the environment because you just replace the blades...but the best part about it? No toxic junk getting absorbed through your skin, especially when you're doing something like shaving that creates little microabrasions and cuts...yeah I'm looking at you Venus Razor with your "moisturizing strip" and plastic disposable heads. The moisturizing strip is not necessary and is full of toxicants. Especially in our underarms right by our lympatic drainage and our breasts...no thank you!

This (and perhaps Black Friday/Cyber Monday) is the best time to get a Leaf Razor on sale, but even if you're reading this when it isn't on sale...this is one product that I have paid full price for and would (and will) again!

2. Clothing & Apparel - pact

Earth Month - Sale on Site, No Code Needed
Earth Day Sale - All Dresses on Sale, and "Doorbusters" at the Link Above ^^

Pact is one of my favorite go-to recommendations for new clients, especially fertility or preconception clients...because we don't want forever chemicals in the most sensitive areas of our bodies, especially when we're preparing or trying to conceive. If you're not ready to give up the Lululemon, the Athleta, the Vuori (yeah sorry, they all have PFEAs - don't shoot the messenger!!), my best advice is to have an organic, non-toxic layer between you and the less than ideal materials of your yoga pants (really, they're the worst offenders...I am as sad as the next woman).

The best way to do this (and usually the cheapest as well) is by starting with your underlayers! Underwear, bras, and if you wear camisoles or tanktops under your shirts (hello, in office days) - start there. This will give you the best bang for your buck without having to completely overhaul your wardrobe (or give your SO a heart attack). Also though, their dresses are adorable and there are some awesome tops, shorts and everything in between on sale.

3. Molly's Suds - Nontoxic Laundry Soap

Earth Day Free Gift - Nontoxic Laundry Sheets Code: PLANET
OR 10% Off with Code: SPRING

This is the laundry soap we switched to a few years back, it is one of many high quality non-toxic options. It is on the list to write a blog full of my favorite (read: approved) brands for non-toxic detergent replacements, but it isn't here quite yet. Molly's Suds very rarely goes on sale, I think because they actually sell out at full prices and they have an excellent, clean product. So if/when it does go on sale, we usually order a bag or two. I really like the 'Super Powder' Enzyme Laundry Soap as well as their Active Wear Soap, both powder and liquid. They have recently extended their line to include dishsoap and dishwasher pods, but we haven't tried them yet!

This will be our first time trying the new Laundry Sheets (thank you, Earth Day Code). Reviews to come soon for those and the dishwasher pods!!

4. Personal Care - John Master's Organics & Oliveda

Earth Month - 25% off Code: EARTH25

While I personally prefer Oliveda products for my skincare, the quality of John Master's Organics products is definitely there! I like and use their "Hair Milk" almost daily and will definitely be ordering more of that this month. However, I have tried every face wash they offer and multiple of their lotions and they just fall flat for me. Thank goodness Oliveda is no longer only a EU product! Oliveda only recently came to the US and is a 100% organic, waterless (they use olive leaf extract instead - talk about antioxidants and anti-aging)

5. Boroux - Water Filters

Earth Month - 20% off Filters and Glass Bottles. Code: EARTH20

Commonly used in the "Berkey" water systems. These are great water filters and clean drinking water is HUGE on my list of recommendations to be some of the first and most influential purchases to invest in the health of you, your family, your pets, your plants. Water is life.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

6. Avocado - Organic Mattresses & Home

With the right blog, you can drive traffic to your site consistently. A blog is also a great way to generate sales. If people visit your blog and sign up for your email newsletter or download a resource that you’ve put out there, they become potential customers or clients of your business. Blogs are a great way to get people engaged with your brand.

7. Cultures for Health

Earth Month - Free Shipping. Code: EARTHDAY

While Cultures for Health isn't directly going to detox your home, if you're up for culturing some of your own food (or like me, somehow missed the Sourdough Boom of Covid and 2020) this is a wonderful way to support your health.

8. Natural Grocers & Sprouts Farmer's Market

9. Almond Cow

Earth Month - % off Code:

Really, I just use a blender - but we have some patients who swear by the "Almond Cow" and LOVE it for making "mylks" and using in their home. If you're going to buy this, might as well get it for a ridiculous deal, which is happening now. For the rest of us, don't forget soaking overnight, filtered water, a blender and a nut bag work great too; and you can buy a TON of organic undies and some new water filters with the $270 you didn't spend on the Almond Cow!

10. REI

Earth Month - 30% off bikes!

Sweating is detox. Sunshine is medicine. Fresh air is less toxic than indoor air! Movement upregulates your detox pathways and all of these things help us ground and regulate our nervous systems.

While I'm sure you could buy a bunch of toxic things at REI...getting outdoors is always on the top of our list of "doctor's orders" and a bike is a great way to minimize your own toxic burden while simultaneously doing something good for the earth! We have recently taken back up biking for errands; to the grocery store, the post office or for a coffee date (when the weather allows). Most of us here at the office biked everywhere (like seriously, no cars) during our time at university (at least for undergrad) and somewhere in the hustle and bustle fell off of it. One unexpected thing I've noticed being back on my bike for mundane tasks is that it brings an honest sense of joy. Joy is always good medicine.

Ps. If you missed the bike sale, REI does their anniversary sale in May every year too - so keep an eye out if you were hoping the "REI" heading was a sale on skis or snowshoes or roller blades or whatever your heart desires. I literally never pay full price for anything at REI (a practice in patience) and we shop there more than I'd care to admit!

So the question that always ends up coming to us after we publish a blog like this is...

"What if my favorite brand or product isn't on the list?!"

Have no fear...this is not an exhaustive list!

Also though, there's a chance that mayyyyybe your favorite product or brand is on our list of "Greenwashing" offenders (* gasp *) and we don't recommend it. Wondering if that's the case? Check out our article on Greenwashing Offenders - The Top Popular Products that Use Smart Marketing & Confusing Ingredient Lists to Make YOU Think They're Clean, When Really, They're Toxic!
>>> Spoiler Alert....Seventh Generation's 15% off for Earth Month is NOT on this list, for a reason 😉

Education, Empowerment, Validation, Critical Thinking

...if you're looking to be spoon fed answers to your health, you might have come to the wrong place.

We believe you are an intelligent, capable human being; worthy of respect in your own healthcare decisions (and experiences). We stand in support of your education and empowerment around your own unique biology and choices for your incredible body. In our blog, we do our very best to bring you the latest research, case studies, clinical and evidence informed best practices and allow you to make your own interpretations and decisions with that information. We welcome healthy, respectful debate. We may not always agree (paleo vs plant based debate, anyone?), but we can always find respect and growth in the conversations.

Hi, I'm Dr. Krystalyn Lowery

and I believe you have the ability to become the healthiest version of you, yet! What’s more, not only do I believe you’re capable…I believe you deserve to experience that version of you.

Living your life to the fullest, in a radically healthy and happy way is how we’re meant to experience this wild ride that is life. But I regularly hear just the opposite when I sit down in new patient consults. Enough of that crap. Enough of the status quo being women who are silently (or not so silently) struggling through their reproductive years with hormone imbalances, crippling fatigue and never feeling good in their own skin. Enough of us settling for that as our day to day, our “normal.” All these symptoms may be common, but that definitely doesn’t mean they’re normal (or healthy). Let’s redefine what health looks like, for each of us.
